Chicago-born equestrian champ buys Wellington home for $925K

Kent Farrington and Jose Javier Salvador Torreguitart bought a 3,694 square foot home at 12580 Sunnydale Dr. in Wellington's Hunter Chase of Palm Beach Polo and Country Club from Debbie and Frederick Hobbs for $925,000 on Feb 19.

The Hobbses paid $695,000 for the house, which was built in 1997, in Jan. 2004.

Farrington is a AGA-winning equestrian who rode in his first Grand Prix at the age of 16. He ranked second in the 2007 Rider of the Year standings, while his Dutch-bred mare, Madison, topped the 2006 Horse of the Year standings.

The native Chicagoan won the AHSA Medal Equitation Finals in 1998 and the WIHS Equitation Finals and the North American Young Rider Championships the following year.

He trains out of Greenwich, Conn., and also runs Kent Farrington LLC, which he started in 2002. The company is based in Greenwich, but also has a location in Wellington.

Home sales in Wellington dropped 33 percent through December 2007 versus the same period in 2006. The median sales price fell from $450,000 to $382,000.
