Ophthalmologist sells Fort Lauderdale mansion for $4M

Joseph P. Cain Jr. bought a seven-bedroom, eight bath at 206 Royal Palm Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale for $4.012 million from Dr. Garfield Munroe and his wife, Margaret, on April 4.

The Munroes paid $1.9 million for the property in Nov. 2005.

The 6,753 square foot home, which was built in 2004, was listed as high as $4.495 million. The home is located in the Nurmi Isles community.

Dr. Munroe is an ophthalmologist with the Laser and Vision Center in Pembroke Pines.

A native of Jamaica, Dr. Munroe also ran a practice in Montego Bay. From 1978-1992, he operated a practice in Pasadena, Calif.

He attended the University of the West Indies and Northern Caribbean University.

Home sales in Fort Lauderdale dropped more than 26 percent in 2007. The median sales price, however, rose $11,000 last year, from $331,000 in 2006 to $342,000 in 2007.
