Bart A. Palumbo and Carlos Perez Varela bought a home at 6576 N.W. 97th Dr. in Parkland from Cris and Stacie Boyar for $530,000 on Feb. 24.

The Boyars paid $340,000 for the 2,451-square-foot house in April 2001. Built in 1995, it is in the neighborhood of Meadow Run.

Palumbo is a senior vice president at Senior Living Management Corp., a developer and operator of senior housing properties. He oversees all the company's communities in Florida, Georgia and Pennsylvania.

He has more than 15 years of experience in the senior housing industry, previously working for Marriott Senior Living Services and Classic Residence by Hyatt.

Varela is a project manager at Westcon, a specialty distributor of advanced network technology solutions. Prior to joining Westcon, he was a director of land acquisitions at Glenn Wright Homes.

Before that, he served as a sales associate at Bell South and a channel sales manager at Nortel.

He attended Boston University.

Mr. Boyar is an attorney based in Margate. He concentrates his practice on personal injury law.

He has been an attorney with the law firm Singer, Farbman & Associates in Hollywood.

He earned a B.S. from the University of South Florida and a J.D. from Nova Southeastern University.

There were 442 sales in Parkland in 2008, with a median price of $550,000.
