Dr. Garfield Munroe and Margaret Munroe sold a condo at 1600 S. Ocean Blvd. in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea to Steven and Sharon Katzman for $1.62 million on Dec. 19.
The Munroes paid $1.9 million for Unit #301 in Nov. 2005.
Dr. Munroe practices refractive ophthalmic surgery at the Laser and Vision Centre in Pembroke Pines. Prior to that, he worked at the Private Solo General Ophthalmology Practice in Pasadena, Calif., and had a part-time general ophthalmology practice in Jamaica.
He attended the Northern Caribbean University and received his medical degree from the University of West Indies. He pursued his residency in ophthalmology at the Martin Luther King Hospital in Los Angeles, the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA and Stanford University.
Mr. Katzman is a lawyer at the Katzman, Wasserman, Bennardini & Rubinstein law firm. He specializes in civil, business, corporate, partnership and securities litigation, professional malpractice, employment law and family law, among others.
He was the co-chairman of the commercial litigation committee and the attorney-accountant liaison committee of the Palm Beach County bar associations.
He received his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Florida.
The Aquazul condominium was developed by The Related Group and opened in 2005. It is 25 stories high and houses 79 units.
Sales at Aquazul are down 9.1 percent from 2006-2007, while the median sales price is down 12.3 percent.
There were 229 home sales in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea in 2008, with a median sales price of $345,000.
