Michael Hand and his wife, Neisa de Barros-Hand, sold a three-bedroom, three-bath home at 486 Boca Raton Road in Boca Raton to Leonard de Barros and Glenia de Barros for $570,000 in Oct. 31.

The Hands bought the property for $570,000 in Nov. 2004.

The 2,700-square-foot house, which was built in 2001, is in the Fifth Avenue Place.

Mr. Hand has taught at the department of philosophy of Texas A&M University.

He joined Texas A&M in 1989 as an assistant professor. Previously, he taught at the University of North Carolina and the University of Oklahoma. He started a career in teaching at Florida A&M University in 1984.

He received his B.S. in psychology (1975) and M.A. in philosophy (1983) from the University of South Carolina. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from Florida State University (1985).

Mrs. Hand has worked in Latin America channel sales at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based semiconductor manufacturer.

She has also worked at Motorola before joining AMD.

She graduated from Texas A&M University.

There have been 1,175 sales in Boca Raton in 2008, with a median sales price of $350,000.
