Charles L. Hammel, III, bought a five-bedroom, six-bath home at 4110 N.E. 31st Ave. in Lighthouse Point's Venetian Isles from Robert and Patricia Hammel for $1.4 million on April 21.
The 5,149-square-foot house was built in 1990.
Charles L. Hammel, III, is chief executive officer, president and co-founder of Pitt Ohio Express, a trucking firm headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Robert Hammel is a co-founder of Pitt Ohio Express. He is also the chairman and chief operating officer of Keystone Dedicated Logistics, a freight management company in Carnegie, Pa., that was once a subsidiary of Pitt Ohio Express. The company became independent in 2003.
He received his bachelor's degree in business/transportation from the University of Maryland.
Charles Hammel and Robert Hammel are third-generation members of their family involved in the trucking business. Their late father's company, Hammel's Express, which was one of the oldest trucking companies in western Pennsylvania, was the inspiration behind Pitt Ohio Express. Their grandfather also founded a trucking company in western Pennsylvania in 1919.
There have been 177 sales in Lighthouse Point in 2008 with a median price of $398,500.
