Grocery founder/wrestling star lists West Boca 7BD

Jeffrey A. Levitetz is selling his seven-bedroom, nine-bath home at 18136 Sentinel Circle in West Boca's Long Lake Estates for $4.995 million.

Levitetz paid $3.7 million for the 9,123-square-foot property in July 2002, the same year it was built.

Levitetz is founder and chairman of the board of Purity Wholesale Grocers, Inc., of Boca Raton. He formed the company in 1982.

He is also known for his numerous contributions to the sport of wrestling. He is a member of USA Wrestling's board of directors and is also involved with the Gator Wrestling Club, which trains and supports talented senior-level wrestlers.

He founded Handshake University, a school for youth development, and the Boca Raton Wrestling Club in Florida, a youth wrestling organization.

Levitetz was named as an Outstanding American by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2002. In 2004, Levitetz was the team leader of the U.S. Olympic wrestling team for Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. The same year, he was named Man of the Year by USA Wresting, the national governing body for amateur wrestling.

He wrestled at Deerfield High School in Illinois and competed in the sport while attending the University of Alabama.

Home sales in West Boca dropped 10.7 percent in 2008 versus sales in 2007. The median sales price fell from $255,000 to $200,000.
