Daniel P. Hawn and Wendy Hawn sold a three-bedroom, two-bath home at 912 Avocado Isle in Fort Lauderdale to Carsten Ovesen and Susan Lai San Yoon-Ovesen for $500,000 on August 29.
The Hawns paid $380,000 for the property in March 2002.
The 1,926-square-foot house was built in 1966.
Mr. Hawn has served as a consulting associate and director of business valuation at RSM McGladrey, a business consulting, accounting and tax firm that has over 120 offices. He has also been an accredited as a senior appraiser by JP Morgan Chase, financial services firm.
Prior to joining RSM McGladrey, he was an IT audit intern at the University of Florida.
He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in decision and information sciences from the University of Florida Warrington College of Business.
Mr. Ovesen has served as the vice president of project and operations at KR Wind Inc., a construction company.
Prior to joining KR Wind, he was a site senior manager at Nordex AG, a company that builds wind turbines.
Home sales in Fort Lauderdale dropped 40 percent in 2008 versus 2007. The median sales price is also down from $342,000 in 2007 to $275,000 so far this year.
