Philadelphia 76ers center spends $4 million in Boca

Samuel Dalembert bought a 8,380-square-foot, 6.5 bath home at 899 N.E. 76th St. In Boca Raton for $4 million from Renato Chiavi and his wife, Julia, on July 31.

The Chiavis paid $2.95 million for the property in Oct. 2003. The house was built in 1983.

Dalembert is a six-year veteran in the NBA, all spent as the center for the Philadelphia 76ers. He appeared in all 82 regular season games each of the past two seasons, averaging more than 10 points and eight rebounds per game each year. He also averaged 2.3 blocks per game last season.

He played college ball at Seton Hall, where he became the school's all-time leader in blocked shots before he left school early for the NBA Draft in 2001.He is originally from Haiti and also spent his teenaged-years in Montreal.

Mr. Chiavi is the chief operating officer of DHL Danzas Air and Ocean, the global air and ocean freight provider and the logistics arm of DHL.

He has also served as chairman of LifeConEx, an airline carrier-neutral provider of air forwarding services using DHL Danzas Air and Ocean systems and services.

Home sales in Boca Raton have dropped 24.3 percent thus far in 2008. The median sale price has also dropped $50,000, from $420,000 in 2007 to $370,000 so far this year.
