Miroslav A. and Kathleen M. Kokes bought a three-bedroom, three bath at 3821 Shearwater Drive in Unicorporated Northeast Palm Beach for $765,000 from Linda J. and Mark Meckly on May 6.

The Mecklies paid $575,000 for the property in Feb. 2007.

The 2,218-square-foot home, which was built in 1988, was originally listed for $799,000. It is located in Jonathan's Landing Country Club, a community with 1,067 homes.

Mr. Meckly is broker/owner of The Meckly Cos., a property management firm based in Jupiter.

His background includes work in commercial real estate, mortgage lending and title insurance.

Mr. Meckly holds a bachelor's degree in real estate and accounting from Kent State University.

Mrs. Meckly also works with The Meckly Cos.

Previously, she served as a customer service manager with Alcoa, a real estate developer in Jupiter.

Mr. Kokes is owner/founder of The Kokes Organization, a developer of adult housing communities on the Jersey Shore. The company is now run by his son Jan.

Kokes worked as a ditch digger, waiter and chicken farmer, before getting into the real estate business. He immigrated to the U.S. from Czechoslovakia in 1949, after spending two years in refugee camps.

Sales in Jonathan's Landing increased four percent in 2007. The median sale price, however, fell almost 23 percent, from $523,725 in 2006 to $405,000 in 2007.

Home sales in Unincorporated Northeast Palm Beach dropped 23 percent in 2007. The median sale price has also dropped $80,000, from $345,000 to $265,000 so far this year.
