N.Y. lawyer, salt mine investor spends $5.5M for Highland Beach mansion

Gunther K. Buerman and his wife, Margaretha, bought a home at 4019 S. Ocean Blvd. in Highland Beach for $5.5 million from Tibor and Aniko Toth on June 4.
The 4,529 square foot beachfront home was built in 1994.
Mr. Buerman is the chairman of Harris Beach PLLC, a New York City law firm with satellite offices throughout the state of New York. As the firm's management committee chairman, he specializes in corporate and commercial law, focusing on private and public financing transactions. He's been with the firm since 1984.
He is also the chairman of the board and a founder of the
American Rock Salt Company, the first new salt mine established in the United States in more than 40 years.
He earned his J.D. from the Syracuse University College of Law (1968) and his bachelor's from St. Lawrence University ('65).
Home sales in
Highland Beach have dropped 6.4 percent thus far in 2008. The median sales price has dropped from $568,000 in 2007 to $432,000 so far this year.
