James R. Treptow and his wife, Mary Lea, bought a five-bedroom, 7.5 bath at 2690 Sheltingham Drive in Wellington from Stadium Jumping, Inc. for $3.3 million on March 27.
The 5,601 square foot house, which was built in 1996, is located in the Palm Beach Polo & Country Club.
Treptow has been the president of Pace Carbon Fuels, LLC and chairman and CEO of its parent company, Magellan Resources Group. Magellan develops and operates alternative energy projects.
Prior to forming Magellan in 1995, he served as chairman of North America Advanced Materials, which manufactured and sold temperature-resistant ceramics for the aerospace, automobile and nuclear industries. Before this, he spent 25 years in the real estate industry.
In 2007, he was elected to the board of directors of Middleburg Financial Corporation and its subsidiary, Middleburg Bank.
Treptow earned a bachelor's in industrial management from the University of Texas-Austin in 1968.
Home sales in Wellington dropped 30 percent in 2007 versus sales in 2006. The median sales price also fell from $444,000 to $380,000.
