Ohio landscaper sells for $4.35M in Palm Beach

Rick Winnestaffer and his wife, Julie, sold their home at 3657 Island Rd. in Unincorporated Northeast Palm Beach County for $4,350,430 to Coba Inc. on April 16.

The Winestaffers paid $240,000 for the property in July 2005.

Mr. Winestaffer is the CEO and founder of WinnScapes, a landscape design and maintenance company based in Columbus, Ohio. He founded the company as a senior in high school in 1981 and later became a nominee for Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year in 1998-99 after the company successfully merged with the Schmidt Nursery Company earlier that year.

He earned his bachelor's in landscape architecture from Ohio State University.

Home sales in Unincorporated Northeast Palm Beach County dropped more than 12 percent in 2007. The median sales price also dropped $49,000 last year, from $340,000 in 2006 to $389,000 in 2007.
