Former college basketball star sells in Miramar

Roney Eford sold his four-bedroom, four bath at 1872 SW 163rd Ave. in Miramar for $513,000 to the Delta Funding Corporation on April 16.

Eford paid $242,000 for the home in June 2001. It was built in 2000.

Eford, 35, is the owner of the Roney Eford Basketball Academy, based in his native New York City. The academy offers camps and personal clinics to young basketball players in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Illinois and Wisconsin.

He is best known for his collegiate basketball success at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., where he was a four-year starter Golden Eagles. He finished fourth all-time in school history in games played (121) and sixth all-time in 3-point percentage (38.5 percent).

Although he never played in an NBA game, Eford played professionally in Germany, China, Japan, Korea, Portugal and Belgium. He also went on to serve as the general manager of the Brooklyn Wonders of the American Basketball Association and for the New Jersey Flyers of the United States Basketball League.

Home sales in Miramar dropped more than 50 percent in 2007. The median sales price, however, rose $20,000 last year, from $280,000 in 2006 to $300,000 in 2007.
