Canadian cable TV exec spends $820K for Hallandale Beach condo

Robert Depatie and his wife, Christiane Laporte, bought a condo at 2080 Ocean Dr. in Hallandale Beach for $820,000 from Sol Perez and Gisela Tillman on April 9.

Perez and Tillman paid $845,000 for Unit #LPH1 in Nov. 2005. There are 233 units in the building.

Depatie is the president and CEO of Videotron Ltd., the largest cable services provider in Quebec and a subsidiary of Quebecor Media Inc. He's held the positions since 2003 after joining the company in 2001 as a the principal vice president of sales, marketing and customer service.

He previously worked largely in the food industry, including high-level positions with Planters, H.J. Heinz Canada Ltd., Bessy's Foods and Nabisco Canada. He earned his bachelor's in executive marketing from the University of Western Ontario.

Condo sales in Hallandale Beach dropped 11 percent in 2007. The median sales price, however, rose $22,000 last year, from $276,000 in 2006 to $298,000 in 2007.

Condo sales in the building at 2080 Ocean Dr. dropped 35 percent in 2007, and the median sales price dropped $51,000, from $600,000 to $549,000.
