New Dolphins head coach Sparano buys $1.7M Davie home

New Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano and his wife, Jeanette, bought a new five-bedroom, five bath at 12467 Ridgeway Ct. in Davie for $1.7 million from Regency At Stonebrook Estates on April 9.

Regency at Stonebrook Estates paid $144,200 for the property in May 2000.

The 5,182 square foot home was listed for $1.895 million.

Sparano, 46, was hired as the eighth head coach in Dolphins history on Jan. 16. He takes over in Miami with his first head coaching position after spending nine seasons as an assistant in the NFL, including the last five with the Dallas Cowboys.

Sparano signed a four-year contract reportedly worth between $2.5 and $2.7 million per year, replacing deposed coach Cam Cameron.

Sparano most recently served as the offensive line coach for the Cowboys in 2007, but he served in various positions with the team as it reached the postseason in three of the five years he was on the staff.

Prior to his career in Dallas, Sparano spent one year each on the staff of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Washington Redskins, and another two with the Cleveland Browns, beginning in 1999.

Prior to joining the NFL coaching ranks, the Connecticut native spent five seasons with the NCAA Division II University of New Haven, his alma mater. He began his coaching career with New Haven in 1984.

Newly-hired Dolphins wide receivers coach Karl Dorrell spent $1 million for a house in Weston on April 15, while new Dolphins quarterback Josh McCown spent $1.795 million for a home in Davie on April 1.

Home sales in Davie dropped more than 29 percent in 2007. The median sales price, however, rose $6,000 last year, from $244,000 in 2006 to $250,000 in 2007.
