Environmentalists buy Palm Beach 3BD for $1.495M

Tiffany M. Schauer and Scott McDonald bought a three-bedroom, two bath at 224 Colonial Lane in Palm Beach for $1.495 million on March 21.

The 1,615 square foot house was built in 1950.

Schauer is the executive director of Our Children's Earth, which she founded in 1998 after more than a decade of environmental justice and litigation, specializing in clean air issues. The foundation is based in San Francisco.

She was an attorney with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, which represented industry clients in environmental litigation. She also served as vice chair of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Hearing Board. Prior to working in the Bay Area, she held key positions with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C.

Schaucer earned her law degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and her B.A. from San Diego State University.

McDonald serves as board treasurer of Our Children's Earth. He is a San Francisco-based management consultant and specializes in start-up organizations and small non-profit foundations.

He is the founder of Ibis Consulting, an IT consulting firm that merged with Proxicom in 1998. He then led Proxicom's Energy Services Practice. He also served as president of Courtney's Foundation, which funds unique approaches to solving environmental and human rights issues.

McDonald holds a B.S. and an M.S. in information systems.

Home sales in Palm Beach dropped almost six percent through December 2007 versus the same period in 2006. The median sales price remained the same at $1.2 million.
