Mrs. Pira, a native of the U.K., is also a realtor with Laissez Faire Sotheby's. In 2007, she set up her own business, the British Real Estate Network, to cater to British buyers looking for property in Florida.

Home sales in Deerfield Beach dropped 32 percent through December 2007 versus the same period in 2006. The median sales price also dropped from $198,000 to $180,000.
