Mrs. Ford and her husband, Donald, bought the 10,496 square foot, four-story castle for $550,000 in Nov. 1980. It was first built in 1920 and later renovated by Addison Mizner, who is known for his Spanish Revival architecture, in 1928.
Mr. Broberg, a lifelong resident of Palm Beach, was a major league baseball pitcher from 1971 to 1978. He played for the Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs and Oakland Athletics.
He is now a lawyer at Coe, Broberg & Austin LLP in Palm Beach, where his practice focuses on real estate, mortgage closings and bankruptcy and creditors' rights.
He attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H.
Mrs. Ford was a philanthropist, horse breeder and journalist. She passed away in Sept. 2007 at the age of 79.
For more than 20 years, she was a volunteer and supporter of the American Red Cross in Palm Beach where she was chapter chairwoman and board member. She and her husband raised Egyptian Arabian horses at their Lancer Arabian Farm in Grosse Pointe, Mich., before they moved to Florida.
Mrs. Ford graduated with honors from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in 1950 and worked for WWJ radio and TV in Detroit.
Home sales in Palm Beach dropped five percent through December 2007 versus the same period in 2006. The median sales price remained the same at $1.2 million.
