New York chef buys Manalapan 4BD for $4.23M

Gerardo and Filomena Campitiello bought a four-bedroom, six bath at 1695 Lands End Rd. in Manalapan from Philip and Margaret Binns for $4.23 million in Jan. 29.

The Binns paid $525,000 for the property in Sept. 1998. The 6,722 square foot home, located in the Point Manalapan community, was built in 1999.

Mr. Campitiello has served as the owner and executive chef of Excelsior Grand, a high-end banquet hall in Staten Island, N.Y.

The award-winning chef is a member of the Chef de Cuisine Association of America. He used to be the chef/owner of Monte Bianco, a catering operation in Staten Island.

Home sales in Manalapan dropped 28 percent in 2007 versus sales in 2006. The median sales price though rose to $3.7 million, a 2.6 percent increase from 2006.
