Christos Lagos and his wife, Alexandra, bought a six-bedroom, four-bath home at 12400 S.W. 75th Ave. in Pinecrest from Axel and Elenora Stein for $750,000 on June 9.

The Steins paid $455,000 for the property in Feb. 2000. The 4,021-square-foot house, which was built in 1988, is in West Pinecrest.

Mr. Lagos is a partner and senior trial counsel at the law firm of Ratiner, Lagos & Mirabal P.A. Prior to that, he was a prosecutor with Miami Dade County and served as a litigation associate at a large firm that focuses on personal injury and wrongful death. Currently, he practices in the areas of medical malpractice, nursing homes, personal injury, products liability law, professional malpractice law and toxic torts.

He earned his bachelor's degree in sociology from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster and his J.D. from the University Of Miami School Of Law in Coral Gables.

Mrs. Lagos is an associate at Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP, where she practices in the area of national products liability litigation. Prior to that, she was an intern for Chief Justice R. Fred Lewis of the Florida Supreme Court.

She graduated from Smith College and earned her J.D. from the University of Miami.

Mr. Stein was the director of Sotheby's in their Miami office and now works with the Sotheby's New York business development team. Before that, he was a professor at Universidad de Los Andes in Venezuela, was the chief curator for the painting department at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas and was the director of the Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas.

He earned his Ph.D in art history from the Universite de Bruxelles.

There were 145 home sales in Pinecrest in 2008, with a median sales price of $666,250.
