Medium 5787faf8ee73b821396e5aa323209388 Former Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning and his wife, Tracy, sold their five-bedroom, five-bath at 3525 Anchorage Way in Miami for $6 million to Timo Kipp and his wife, Georgia, on April 2.

The 10,121-square-foot home was built in 1996 in the South/West Coconut Grove neighborhood.

Mr. Mourning, 39, spent a total of 11 seasons with the Heat during two different runs of his 16-year career. He first spent seven seasons with the club from 1995-2002, earning six All-Star nods at center during that span and claiming the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award in 1999 and 2000. Widely regarded as one of the best defensive big men in the league, he made the Heat a perennial playoff contender during the stretch before he signed a four-year deal with the New Jersey Nets in 2003.

Mourning's career with the Nets was never productive, however, after Mourning underwent surgery for kidney disease in Dec. 2003. Mourning retired from the league briefly before eventually resigning with the Heat in March 2005. Mourning was largely a backup to center Shaquille O'Neal during his second stint with the club, but he won his first and only NBA title with the club in 2006 before eventually retiring in January of this year.

Mourning retired as the all-time leader in points scored in Heat franchise history, and in March he became the first Heat player to have his jersey retired. He also won an Olympic gold medal with the U.S. national team in 2000.

Mourning was selected second overall in the 1992 NBA Draft out of Georgetown by the Charlotte Hornets, for whom he starred for three seasons before he was traded to Miami. He is originally from Chesepeake, Va.

Mr. Kipp is the owner of Whalou Properties in Miami.

There were 2,466 home sales in Miami in 2008, with a median sales price of $190,000.
