He joined GEO in 1989 as the vice president of business development. Prior to GEO, he was a partner at Calabrese, Dobbins and Kepple, a law firm in Akron, Ohio.

He received his bachelor's degree in secondary education from the University of Akron and his J.D. from the University of Akron Law School.
