Matthew L. Berkowitz and his wife, Miriam, sold a three-bath home at 6095 Vista Linda Lane in Boca Del Mar to Kevin and Heidi Offel for $400,000 on Aug. 4.
The Berkowitzes paid $332,000 for the property in Aug. 2001. The 3,258-square-foot home in the Buena Vista subdivision was built in 1993.
Mr. Berkowitz is a senior rabbinic fellow with the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He is also a member of the heritage program faculty at Wexner and is an artist specializing in oil paintings, pastels and pencil drawings. His artwork has been exhibited at Yeshiva University Museum and at the Jewish Theological Seminary.
He has a bachelor's degree in international relations and Middle East studies from Colgate University. He also studied at Pardes and the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies in Israel.
Mrs. Berkowitz is an associate rabbi, writer and scholar based in Boca Raton. She previously served as an associate rabbi at Park Avenue Synagogue. She also authored the book Spiritual and Practical Guide to Mikveh.
She has a B.A. and an M.A. from Harvard and the Schechter Institute in Israel, where she also received her rabbinic ordination.
There were 269 sales in Boca Del Mar in 2008, with a median price of $185,000.
