Gay and Stanley Gaines have listed for sale a four-bedroom, 5.5-bath home at 234 Brazilian Ave. in Palm Beach for $3.9 million.
The Gaines acquired the home for $3.5 million in May 2007. The 4,501-square-foot house in Palm Beach North was built in 1998. Robin W. Donnelley is the listing agent for the house.
Ms. Gaines serves as a member of the Corp. of Public Broadcasting. She was trained to be an interior designer and is active in a wide range of charitable, civic and arts organizations. She is currently a member of the Heritage Foundation, the Madison Council of the Library of Congress and has served as a board member of the Hudson Institute, the Best Friends Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, where she was also president of the Palm Beach chapter for three years.
She is a graduate Sweet Briar College.
Mr. Gaines has served as a director at the International Coal Group Inc., a producer of coal in Northern and Central Appalachia, since May 2006. He has also worked as a director and member of the audit committee of ModTech Holdings Inc., as the chairman and chief executive officer of GNB Inc., and as senior vice president at Gould Inc.
He attended the University of Virginia and Harvard Business School.
There were 236 sales in Palm Beach in 2008, with a median price of $837,500.
