Allen and Helene Apter bought a five-bedroom, seven-bath home at 16490 Brookfield Estates Way in West Delray from Thomas and Rhona Kochman for $2.1 million on Feb. 20.

The 6,014-square-foot house, which was built in 1997, is in the neighborhood of Addison.

Mr. Apter is a businessman from Fort Washington, Pa. He grew his family’s business into R.A. Industries, a manufacturer of material handling equipment and specialized chemical pumps.

He graduated from Lehigh University in 1961 with a degree in industrial engineering.

Mrs. Apter, a native New Yorker, has taught in both New York City and Cheltenham, Pa.

She holds a bachelor’s from Queens College and a master’s in development and remedial reading from the City College of New York.

There were 1,197 home sales in West Delray in 2008, with median sales price of $89,000.
